How to create an automated networking program for your community?

Automated Matchmaking tool
It's easy to create an automated networking program for your community using Curated Connections. You can get started for free and have the perfect program running in minutes.

Watching this quick demo from our founder is the quickest way to get started.

But if you wanna read, here are 2 ways to build an automated networking program.

Using templates

We have a library of templates for the most common types of matching programs our users create using the tool. You can use those to quickly set up a program that makes powerful matches between your members.
Here's how..
1. Sign up or Sign in
No points for guessing this. Click on the Create Program button on the homepage or visit this link to create a new account. You will be taken to a page that looks like this:

Or, if you already have an account click the Sign In button on the homepage to log into your account with your email.
2. 1-on-1 Networking tab
You'll be taken to your dashboard where you'll be taken to the 1-on-1 Networking tab which should look something like this.

(Note: If you're already a member of another community, you'll need to start your community first. Like this:)

This is where you'll build your automated networking program.
We give you 2 ways to build your program:
  1. Using templates - these give you a head start. Each template is pre-populated with questions and icebreakers that we've seen perform well. Choose from a variety of templates, customise them and invite your members to it.
  2. Using Program Builder - this gives you a blank slate. Build your program from scratch by filling out a simple form.
If you know what you want to build, we promise the software won’t get in your way. It’s so intuitive that you can easily create your program in 5 mins.
3. Using quickstart templates
Pick the template that best suits your needs - You can customise it
  • Click on the "Use template" button below any of the templates. That template will be copied to your community. You can see the pre-filled questions, icebreakers and instructions to customise the template.

Click on "Edit program" button to customise the template. Change the name, description, signup link and logo to match your brand. You can edit the questions, their options and talking prompts too.

Using the Program Builder

The Program Builder will allow you to create a program that looks something like this. This is there your community members will go to sign up for your program.
You don't need an hour to learn this tool - it's as intuitive a form builder. There are just 3 parts to building such a program -

1. Tell us about your program
This is where you give your program a name, description, logo and a unique link that members will use to signup.

2. Add signup questions that determine introductions
This is where the magic happens.
You add multiple-choice questions that determine who gets matched with whom. You can add as many questions as you like and give them as many options as you want.
There can be 2 types of questions: single-select or multi-select.

By default we do "likeminded matching". That means the algorithm matches people who have the most number of answers in common. You can customise this algorithm by going to Advanced Settings - which we'll cover in the next chapter.
Note: We add the "How often do you want to be matched?" question from our end. This allows your members to control the frequency at which they receive new matches.
You can't remove this question or edit it. You can only delete one or many of the options present there.
Note 2: If you don't add any questions here, your program will match people on a completely random basis.
3. (Optional) Suggest prompts
Finally, you have the ability to suggest talking prompts that the members can choose from at the time of signup.
Although this is optional, we recommend that you add some because these can be great icebreakers when 2 strangers meet.
You can add as many talking prompts as you want.

Once you're done, remember to press the "Create Program" button. And that's all!
